[rip] ADOPT: Jerry the strong, handsome singapore boy
Gender: Male
Sterilised: Yes
Temperament: Good with dogs and humans.
Details:
Jerry's brother (Tom) died a couple of years ago due to sickness which affected all the dogs in shelter.
Handsome Jerry loves to escape from shelter especially when someone opens the gate. When he was young, the workers used to draw circles on Tom and his face which was quite hilarious but we guessed it was meant for fun only.
Do call us for viewing of handsome Jerry. We bet you will not be disappointed!
He makes a wonderful companion. A nice lovely pet.
Update as at 22 Nov 09:
Jerry began losing weight lately and was brought to the vet. A light 15.5kg which is uncommon for a dog his size.
He will undergo blood transfusion this morning and we need to monitor his condition for fear of "rejection" of blood by his body. He was also tested positive for tick fever (known as erhlichiosis) and possible heartworm. The same history as Smarty (who unfortunately, passed away 3 days ago).
Let's pray for the best...
Update as at 6 Dec 09:
Jerry is now recovering and under foster care. He puts on much weight as compared and is eating well.
He requires a foster home to care for him whilst he is still recuperating. The foster family has currently a handful of dogs to take care and might not have the ability to care for him in long term.
Please drop us an email if you can help to foster Jerry.
Jerry's next review with the vet will be in two wks' time.
Thank you!

[rehomed!] SOS! FOSTER/ADOPT: Kiki the 2-3yo female silk terrier - owner died in accident with no next-of-kin, kiki now w landlord
I have an urgent case here. A female silky terrier (named Kiki) whose owner has just passed away in an accident is needed a home. The owner has neither family member nor relative. Kiki is currently in the landlord's place which the owner had rented a room.
We are seeking kind hearted people who can either adopt or foster Kiki.
She is a very friendly dog who is at least 2-3 years old.
Kiki is not aware that her owner is not able to come back caring for her anymore. She is still waiting at her cage which her owner used to placed her while out at work. Sending her to SPCA is the least thing the landlord is willing to do.
Unfortunately, should on one is able to take Kiki, sending her to SPCA will be the last thing he can do.
Please help to spread this message around to help Kiki who desperately needs love and a new home. Please give her a second chance to live. I believe her owner will be grateful to whoever is able to step forward.

A Tribute to Max

Max, a Bull Mastiff, passed away peacefully this morning at 9am, in the comfort of his home and in the loving arms of his owner, Ms CL. She had adopted him some years back and had given him the best of everything - from numerous car rides, to swims on the beach, to his very own swimming pool.
Max had tick fever slightly more than a month ago and despite two blood transfusions over the past week, he got weaker by the day and finally passed on this morning.
To all who knew Max, he was a gentle giant - he lived to play! Ball games, swimming - those were his greatest pleasures. And when Max came near you - be sure to scram because his saliva would definitely give you a refreshing foam bath.

APPEAL FOR WITNESSES/SIGN PETITION: Dog believed to have been bashed to death in Compassvale
On 18 August 2010, a dog was found dead at the void deck of Blk 267B Compassvale Link. The dog was believed to have been bashed to death against the wall by an unknown male subject. The AVA is investigating the case.
The SPCA is appealing for information which could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for this violent act.
* If you can help, please call the SPCA at 62875355 ext 9.
http://www.spca.org.sg/documents/reward%20poster-cats-compassvale-pomeranian-200810.pdf
* If you didn't witness the act, you can still help by signing this petition to appeal to the courts to impose the maximum punishment on the offender:

20 August 2010
Dear Sirs
On 18 August 2010, Wednesday, at about 7.40pm, an unnamed Pomeranian dog was killed brutally by an unknown man at the void deck of Block 267B Compassvale Link. A witness said that the man was picking up the dog and throwing it onto the floor over and over again - for at least 10 times. This lasted for more than 10 minutes. The dog cried out in pain at first, after awhile, there was silence.
The dog's face was soaked in blood and the concrete slabs and floor of the void deck bore blood stains. This is evidence of the cruelty the animal suffered.
In Singapore, cruelty to animals is a crime. Under the Animals and Birds Act, anyone who is found guilty of such an offence including abandonment of any animal, can be imprisoned for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000, or both.
However, in this particular case, it is more than just cruelty. The man has showed a blatant disregard of the law and displayed his aggression to a poor, defenseless animal openly in the public, whilst under the watchful eyes of witnesses around. Nobody went forward to stop his act of aggression as they feared being attacked by him. This man must be punished by the law for his aggression may go out of control and his next victim may be a young and defenseless child.
Even if the maximum punishment of one year imprisonment and a $10,000 fine is imposed, it is too light a sentence for a man who has a lack of respect for life itself. If such an act of aggression is let off lightly, what kind of message are we sending to the public and what kind of society would we be seen as by other countries?
We, the undersigned, appeal to the Court to impose a harsh punishment on the offender, so as to deter others and help prevent further animal cruelty incidents from happening. Animals are unable to defend themselves so we must all do our part to save them from acts of cruelty.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
