[rehomed!] ADOPT: Diesel - sweet-natured male terrier who needs a patient owner
Hello everyone!
Meet Diesel. He's a very sweet-natured li'l guy & did not make any noise at all throughout his bath. For him being a terrier, it's rather unusual! They don't like water very much. Anyways, we are hoping that through you, someone may be able to give him a permanent & loving home. He is at the moment, being caged up most of the time. When he's let out, he is usually leashed up & secured to an area. So either ways, Diesel has very limited movement.
There's a lack of info from the owner, but from what I can see:
1)No ticks anywhere, except for 1 on his bum.
2)Surprisingly, he does'nt smell despite not having regular baths.
3)His pawpads are all kind of deformed due to his long period of time being confined to a cage.
4)It also looked like he has ear mites, but this is a small issue & is easily treated.
5)Does'nt look like he's neutered & I also believe that he is not micro-chipped.
6)Has no skin problem, except for mentioned condition of pawpads above, with a little abrasion on one of his pads.
7)Sweet natured & very friendly
8)I'll say he's about 7yrs old, but will need to have vet check him out to affirm
9)Very bad teeth. Covered with plague & tartar, so needs dental scaling. Feeding oxtail may be another alternative.
Worked for my "gremlins"!
10)Don't think he's paper-trained. He does his business (big & small) in the cage.
11)Don't think he's registered to anyone as well
Current owner is willing to give him up for adoption. So we're hoping for good news for Diesel through you. Diesel deserves alot better and though one will probably need alot of patience with this li'l fella due to his lack of training, it will be worthwhile. He is really very sweet. Thank you in advance!

ADOPT: Loving, friendly Waggy the singapore girl
My name is Waggy. I was probably given this name because my tail continues to wag no matter what adversity I face.
Out of the four sisters, I am closest to Gaga. Lady and Poker can get rather fierce, even if I set out to play with them. I have a habit of biting on to our metal drinking bowls and jumping onto the bench with it. Between Gaga and I, I am the more adventurous and playful one. My playful nature sometimes gets me into trouble with the other girls.
I live each day trying to be happy. I could bring some happiness in your life as well... if you would just let me. Do think of me when you’re considering adoption! They say the wag of a tail is worth more than anything in the world. I’ve still got lots of wagging left in me!

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Pidian - healthy, active, trainable, toilet-trained 3yo shorter-eared male beagle
Pidan is looking for a home. Sold as a pure beagle in a petshop three years ago, he has shorter ears than most beagles, but he has the characteristics, temperament and beagle yodel of ooo ooo ooo.
His current owners have no time for him and travel frequently and can't take care of him anymore.
He is unsterilised and around 3 years old, healthy and active and a good boy, gets along with other dogs, cats and children. He just needs a place to run around because he is always cooped up at home in a flat.
Pidan is toilet trained and will not pee and poo in the hdb and wait patiently for his owner to return so he can relieve himself.
Unlike typical beagles who are a little stubborn, Pidan learns willingly and
is trainable. So his shorter ears make up for his fantastic temperament and
cheefulness.
Is there a home for Pidan, someone who can see beyond his looks and beagle ears?

[rehomed!] FOSTER/ADOPT: Lemon + Lime, 2 extremely friendly stray singapore girls roaming in AVA-frequented area
Recently we encountered two very friendly female strays at Lim Chu Kang, we suspect they had owner before but were being abandoned not long ago. Our initial plan was to sterilize and release them back to where they were found.
On the day of sterilization, at the clinic, the nurses and the vets like these two girls, as they are very friendly and sweet, they simply love humans!
The vet told me it's a pity to release them back, and I was being informed that AVA van passed by their hiding place at Lim Chu Kang a couple of times these few weeks. Since AVA frequents the area, there's a very high possibility that they will be caught even though they are sterilized, as they will not put up any resist when humans approach.
Because of their very sweet temperament, I have decided to try my very best to help them find a foster home or even better a permanent home. They are now at a rescue centre but the centre can't hold them for long due to the space constraints, thus I hope to find foster home or adopting family for them as soon as possible.
Particulars of the two dogs:
•The two girls maybe related, the bigger one is around 1.5 year old, the smaller one is around 8 month old.
•They are extremely friendly with humans, and may take a while to warm up with other dogs.
•They will do well in a home that has space for them to run around.

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Orange - very affectionate, sociable, friendly, obedient 7mo mongrel male pup from active culling area
Orange was from a highly active culling area. He would be the one so friendly that he'd follow our teammates wherever they go, and enjoying being carried in their arms. No doubt that he is the easiest target to be caught and culled, our teammates couldn't leave him ant the area any longer and rescued him.
Orange is VERY affectionate, very sociable, friendly and responsive. He is highly intelligent & obedient hence is very easy to train. And he loves playing 'fetch'.
Orange naturally gets on very well with other dogs, humans and kids alike. He is packed full of love.
Male, est. 6-7mths old.

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Lucky - 5yo male golden retriever
Name: Lucky
Age: about 5 yrs old
Gender: Male
Health: Neutered, vaccinated, no major skin problems
Size: Smaller than the usual golden retriever.
Behaviour: Listens to simple commands, loves eating and playing with children, not barkish unless he is being ignored
Diet: Lucky will look best in shape and fur if he sticks to fish diet regime
History:
Lucky was lost/abandoned in Feb 2007. found walking along Katong estates. He was malnourished and suffering from severe dehydration. He also had major bite wounds on his back as well. Nursed back to good health in Mar 2007and rehomed in April 2007. However due to the traumatic experience he underwent, Lucky tends to get anxious and overly-excited easily.
~
In 2010, Lucky's ex-owners were unable to keep him as their newborn had hay fever. Lucky was rehomed again, to a young owner. Young owner already has two dogs in her flat. With Lucky's best care in mind, we decided to rehome Lucky.
Current fosterer and young owner did a tremendous job in teaching Lucky to walk on leash and he is less anxious now. The fosterer is unable to take care of Lucky anymore as she has three other german shepherds and she is also fostering a homeless dog. Her hands are very full now.
Please help Lucky cos he is indeed a good dog. In fact, he will make a good therapy dog.
We are looking for committed owners. Lucky has moved from places to places. Please, keep him for life.

ADOPT: Princess - docile, patient, loving 6.5yo black labrador (chocolate lab x golden retriever)
I have a 6.5 year old black labrador (she is actually a cross between a chocolate lab and a golden retriever) whom I adopted since she was 3 months old. She was born on 1 Jul 2004. Her name is Princess.
We are giving her up for adoption because we find it increasingly hard to care for her as I have 2 young kids now and they are already quite a handful to take care of.
I also live in a HDB flat and am actually not allowed to keep this type of breed of dog. Rather than put her at an animal shelter, I would very much prefer to find a good home for her where she has the space to run around and have loving owners who can take care of her in her latter years.
Princess is a very docile dog. There is no aggressive streak In her at all. She hardly barks and has NEVER bitten anyone or any other dog. She is also very patient and loving towards children and other dogs. She does not need much attention except for the usual grooming and daily walks which she needs to relieve herself. She Is actually toilet trained and will not "poo" or "pee" in the house. She always waits to relieve herself outside and will even "tell" you if she really needs to go.
I believe she will make a great companion for anyone because of her super gentle and loving nature.

ADOPT: Unique Pretty Poker - female local breed
My name is Poker. I’ve three sisters with me at the shelter. We were a bunch of stray puppies rescued off Lorong Halus. Look how big we’ve grown! The four of us all turned out so differently nobody would have known we’re siblings!
The first thing you’ll notice about me is the soft wispy mane framing my face.
The next thing you’ll discover is that I’m extremely skinny. The humans are worried because I was born with an abnormally high metabolic rate. Even though I eat as much as the other dogs, my body somehow breaks down the food so much faster. Please do not be overly concerned, because despite my skinny frame, my spirits are great. I am no weak sickly dog. The humans have sent me to the vet who has given me the clear.
I am slightly shy towards humans. It takes time to be my friend and I hope you are not deterred.

ADOPT: 2 abandoned cats, dumped out of carrier
I rescued five cats two nights ago as they were being abandoned in Woodlands area by three youngsters. They are two tiger striped cats (a male and female, about 6-10 months old) a black male Tom cat about a year old and two grey and white tabbies (female looks like she's about 6 -10 months old and the male looks like he's about a year old).
What happened:
On my way home, I sat to chat with some friends and these three kids - 2 boys and a girl - walked up and began dumping cats out of a cat carrier. The cats were obviously traumatised and confused as it was evident they are not familiar with being outdoors. Rather than run off and hide like wild cats would, they all huddled in a bunch and meowed loudly.
When I asked one of the boys what they were doing, I was rudely told to mind my own business. So when they left, I went to take a closer look and the cats ran up to me and would not leave my side. I called a friend who lived close by and asked her to bring me a couple of cat carriers and as soon as arrived, she could see they were not strays and really hungered for human contact and affection. However, she isn't able to take in any more cats and asked me to bring them home with me.
The problem is, I can't keep them. Not only do I live in HDB...I am also allergic to them. Whenever i am around them, I sneeze a lot and when they knead me with their paws, I tend to break out into massive rashes. I really do not want them to be sent to be euthanized because they are very gentle, loving cats. They love to be around people, love to be stroked and purr so loudly.
Could you please help me try to find them homes. I have uploaded their pictures to my FB page and made the album public so everyone can see them. The link is:
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150655788735096.708981.749720095&l=74d2418f09
Anything you can do to help will certainly help. It's so important to find these cats a good home because they've already been so badly traumatised, I really don't want them to have to go through another bad experience with humans. They just don't deserve to be so badly treated.

ADOPT: Missy the alert, intelligent dog who loves to jog
Always eager to please, she will always greet you with a nice wag of tail and lots of affection. She is very friendly with all of us in the family including my young 4-yr old nephew and also gets along fine with my other 2 dogs well.
When we found her at Sembawang Park on 11 Feb 2010 before CNY, she came running up to us looking for a good pack to settle in with. After a brief interaction, she was ready to follow me and my dogs home.
She has some boxer blood (black mouth with white stripe down the front of her head) and looks like a cross between that and a hound or something from the sporting group of dogs as she is always alert and an active sniffer.
Her health is excellent (no external parasite problems), clean ears and skin. I also had her microchipped and dewormed. The vet suggests that she is less than a year old and I have made arrangements to have her sterilise on 30 March. She is eating well, and is lean, and getting very muscular as I do run and exercise her everyday.
She is intelligent and is learning basic commands very fast (sit, stay, come, down, and responding to her name "Missy"). On the leash, she is a real joy to walk with.
Since then she has settled right in front of my house and is always alert (in a non-aggressive way) when there are visitors or passerbys.
I think she will make a good house and family dog if you are looking to have one around the house.
We brought her to SPCA but was informed that she could be put down within 24 hrs, so we decided to do this adoption programme ourselves.
If you are keen to adopt her, pls contact me at 98221251 or 92368616. There is no adoption fee whatsoever eventhough I have paid for her deworming and microchipping. All we want is for her to go to a nice home. I can't keep her as I have already 2 fast growing dogs at home.
Please let us know as well your experience with dogs as she is energetic and will need to be walked or run and plenty of affection everyday.

Update Fri 26 Mar
We found Missy lost and hungry on 11 Feb 2010 at Sembawang Park and have been fostering her since. Due to a change in family situation (one of the primary caregivers will be leaving Singapore in a month's time), we are urgently in need of help of any kind person who can adopt or foster Missy. There are already 2 fast growing dogs at home so Missy is adding to the pressure and we can't cope. The family decision is to surrender her to the SPCA in 2 weeks time if unadopted and we really do not want to resort to this as they may have to euthanise her if they deem her not suitable.
Missy is a very affectionate and intelligent dog and looks like a cross between a boxer and a hound. She can definitely run well and if you love to jog, she will make a lovely running companion.
I had her microchipped and dewormed already and she is a very healthy and fit dog.
Please contact us at 98221251 if you can help.
Update Wed 21 Apr
A potential adopter backed out at the last minute. Andy has decided to keep Missy and work out among the family on how to care for her.

Hello! My name is Junior. Have you heard about the story of Hachiko? Well, my story is one of my love and loyalty to my canine sister.
I was rescued from the perils of the dangerous roads. When my sister was mercilessly knocked down by a car and sent to AVA, I loitered by that very road, wishing to
see her again. However, I never heard from her since.
Knowing how dangerous it is for me, I was brought to Gentle Paws & Friends where I found shelter and love.
I have since recovered from the tragic loss of my sister and regain my playful and friendly nature. I am bustling with energy and love to play.
I have a sad past and I really hope someone will give me a home. Fairy tails (tales) always have a happy ever after ending. Will you be the lead in my future happy tale of everlasting love and loyalty?

STILL LOST: Ner Ner - 6yo female white maltese mix w purple bell collar (blk 288 choa chu kang ave 3, 22 mar 2011)
I would like to seek your assistance in posting a search for my lost pet Ner Ner.
She was lost to us near BLK 288 CHOA CHU KANG AVE 3 PLAYGROUND.
AGE: 5 years 10 months at that time.
BREED: Female white Maltese Mix (SMALL BREED)
She wore a PURPLE BELL COLLAR, was at the playground area for daily evening walk when she went missing around 5.45PM on 22nd March.
I was just out of the hospital after a major surgery and had sent Ner Ner over to my younger brother's home for her to be taken care of for the time-being.
When I returned to visit her (as I was still weak from the surgery, I couldn't do most of the cleaning and feeding), she was estastic to see me. So when it's time for me to leave, my nephew decided to bring her downstairs for a quick walk to send me off as well. That was when I guess as I made my way to the bus-stop, she had followed me along without my knowledge and someone else picked her up thinking she was lost.
If you see or found her, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY CALL me or my younger brother:
JENNY HP: 9146 5059
THOMAS HP: 8133 1058
A $$$ REWARD WILL BE GIVEN FOR YOUR KINDNESS!

FOUND NOW AT SPCA: 2yo male cross terrier w army-green collar (serangoon ave 1, 12 aug 2.30am)
I found a Male Cross Terrier along Serangoon Ave 1 (Opposite Serangoon Lane) on 12 August, Saturday at 2.30a.m. wandering around.
We think he is still pretty young because his teeth is still in good condition, probably around 2 years old. He was wearing an army green collar around his neck. He shouldn’t have been lost for very long because his nails are freshly clipped but we’re not sure if he’s lost or abandoned as he is very very skinny.
We tried to house him but he kept attacking our Goldie (but he is very good with humans and love attention). As such, we had no choice but to bring him to the SPCA. I am trying to reach out to the owner and hopefully someone will go forward to claim him because he is really such a good-natured and loving dog.
I have attached two pictures of him in this email. Perhaps you could put up a notice on your blog and facebook page to increase its chances of finding its home, or even perhaps a new home if nobody comes forward.
Call SPCA shelter office at 62875355 ext 25 if this is your dog.

SPONSOR BOARDING/REHAB: Oakley - 3yo male golden retriever who needs to build faith/trust in people
On 5 Jun 2011, a rehomer was informed about Oakley, a young male Golden Retriever that was abandoned, found and sent to SPCA. He was scheduled for PTS on the following day as he had failed the SPCA temperament test for adoption.
Oakley was estimated by the vet to be 2-3 years old and healthy. He displayed a slight hip problem when he was rescued from SPCA and had difficulty standing still without his hind legs trembling. However, vet examination and x-rays revealed no physical injury to the hind legs at all. It is suspected the problem could be caused by long-term caging by the previous owner who was probably living in a flat.
He also displays aggression from fear of strangers and is possessive of his toys and food. The only defense known to him is to bite. Was he under-socialized as a pup and/or abused by his previous owner?
Since his rescue, Oakley has bitten 4 people largely due to carelessness in their handling of this very frightened boy.
Today, Oakley is boarded and rehabilitated at Mutts & Mittens. He no longer has a problem with his hips. He enjoys his daily walks and interacts well with other dogs though at time, he gets bullied by the other dogs. However, his manners still need to be worked on as he tends to greet people by jumping on them and humping. He does not like his collar to be touched except by people whom he knows and trusts. His kennel caretaker has absolutely no problem with him.
Oakley will need time to build faith and trust in people. He is still fearful of sudden movements and loud noises. Together with Mutts & Mittens, we have decided to give this young boy a second chance at life. Hopefully with rehabilitation, Oakley will never need to meet with the fate of PTS but will instead be rehomed one day to a family who will open their heart and home to him.
For Oakley’s boarding and rehabilitation, we are appealing for kind donations of any amount. Cheque to be issued to “Mutts & Mittens Pte Ltd”.

[reunited!] SOS! AT SPCA FOR 2-3 DAYS! FOUND: golden retriever (kovan mrt, wed 10 aug 2011 9am)
This GR was found near Kovan MRT on 10 Aug 2011 around 9am. The person who found the dog called SPCA and they came and brought it back with them.
SPCA had put up some advertisements for this dog and will wait for 2-3 days for the owner to come forth. If unclaimed, they will put the dog through their usual selection process and temperament testing to determine if the dog is suitable for adoption.

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Blacki - quiet, affectionate 10yo singapore girl saved from spca
Name: Blacki
Breed: Mixed stray
Gender: Female
Weight: 17.5kg
Height from head to backside: 1.2m
Age: About 10 years old
Health status:
Healthy with a slightly enlarged heart but doctor says she is fine. Taken her injections. Teeth is not as strong. Need to soak her food to soften them first.
Character: Quiet, has not barked since. Affectionate.
Toilet Training: We bring her down twice a day.
She was roaming on the road outside a friend’s house. The guards from the condo nearby said she was seen walking around since morning. First we saw the collar so I thought she might be lost. Then we guess her age and from her grooming, her ears super dirty and clogged with black stuff, her body had a stench and so we reckoned she must be either homeless or just abandoned.
We called SPCA and they said since she has a collar she must have owner. So they placed an ad on papers for two days. But no one came for her. According to their protocol, Blacki will be handled in two weeks time - most probably put to sleep since she is an old dog and chances of adoption is not high. My friend placed her plight on facebook and we decided to adopt her to save her from being put to sleep.
However, we then found out that staying in a HDB doesn’t allow us to have a dog of her size and we have neighbours who are sensitive to dogs as well. In addition, our house is small and not enough for her to roam around.
We have saved her from being put to sleep and we hope that someone can provide her with a home.

[rehomed!] SOS! PLS FORWARD! FOSTER/ADOPT: Yumi - energetic, curious 2yo female mongrel, loves pats and walks
I have a 2 YrsOld mongrel named YUMI.
She was abandoned by her previous owner because YUMI was from his ex girlfriend and his current is not a dog-lover. I adopted her in July2010. It's been 9 months and she still couldn't get along well with my dog. They will fight and injure each other every time they get near. In the end, i had to leash them at two corners of my room.
Things were still fine when i wasn't working because then, i had time to stay at home and look after them. But after i start working with my parents, I didn't have that time to look after them. My mother-in-law ended up looking after them. Both my brother and sister-in-laws are really unhappy over this.
Since I adopted her until now, the Town Council, AVA and finally HDB has come several times to check up on my husband's place where both of my dogs are kept. His family already has 2 dogs in the first place. I've tried hiding her for awhile and bringing him back home but each time I do, my neighbours complain again and the authorities come again. The relationships between my family are deteriorating more and more as each day passes and My husband and is not staying together anymore. I just go back every Saturday to check on her. Only saturdays beacause i'm working 18hours a day and 6days a weeek. I've received several warning letters from the HDB and countless visits to my home to check on my dogs. I was also fined once for keeping 4 dogs in an HDB flat, with one not HDB-approved and without a license.
I adopted her because I could keep her for good without causing any trouble. I couldn't bear to give her up. Now I've grown attached to her and vice versa, and it breaks my heart completely that I have to give her up but at the end of the day, I simply have no choice.
Name: YUMI
Age: Turning 2 years old on 29th April
Gender: Female
Breed: Mongrel
Vaccinated: Once
Sterilized: No.
Health condition? Healthy but couldn't gain any weight due to the stress and tension going on in the house and the fact that she couldn't get along well with my the other dog.
Physical description: White with a light brown line across her back.
About her: Energetic and curious, possessive with food, loves patting and sleeping with her owner. Loves going out for walks. She's scared to be alone or closed in a room. She once barked for 2 hours non-stop because no one's at home. So she barked until i was home. Knows how to "sit" and "shake hand". She's paper trained and she's very good with children.
HDB gave me until the end of January the last time they came to check, and that's way past the due date by now. They haven't followed up yet but I think they would anytime now.
Yumi has become very special to me in the past 9 Months, and she's very attached to me. He needs a firm hand and VERY PATIENT person to care for him. I know, because I was patient with her. I would care for him for the rest of my life if the circumstances were different.
She is a special girl who's brought a lot of joy and laughter to me, and I know her personality sounds like a handful, but she really just needs a lot of understanding/care and love with all that he's been through. Please be patient with her, and I'd be eternally grateful to any kind souls out there who are willing to extend a helping hand.
