FOUND NOW AT SPCA: 2yo male cross terrier w army-green collar (serangoon ave 1, 12 aug 2.30am)

I found a Male Cross Terrier along Serangoon Ave 1 (Opposite Serangoon Lane) on 12 August, Saturday at 2.30a.m. wandering around.

We think he is still pretty young because his teeth is still in good condition, probably around 2 years old. He was wearing an army green collar around his neck. He shouldn’t have been lost for very long because his nails are freshly clipped but we’re not sure if he’s lost or abandoned as he is very very skinny.

We tried to house him but he kept attacking our Goldie (but he is very good with humans and love attention). As such, we had no choice but to bring him to the SPCA. I am trying to reach out to the owner and hopefully someone will go forward to claim him because he is really such a good-natured and loving dog.

I have attached two pictures of him in this email. Perhaps you could put up a notice on your blog and facebook page to increase its chances of finding its home, or even perhaps a new home if nobody comes forward.

Call SPCA shelter office at 62875355 ext 25 if this is your dog.

SPONSOR BOARDING/REHAB: Oakley - 3yo male golden retriever who needs to build faith/trust in people

On 5 Jun 2011, a rehomer was informed about Oakley, a young male Golden Retriever that was abandoned, found and sent to SPCA. He was scheduled for PTS on the following day as he had failed the SPCA temperament test for adoption.

Oakley was estimated by the vet to be 2-3 years old and healthy. He displayed a slight hip problem when he was rescued from SPCA and had difficulty standing still without his hind legs trembling. However, vet examination and x-rays revealed no physical injury to the hind legs at all. It is suspected the problem could be caused by long-term caging by the previous owner who was probably living in a flat.

He also displays aggression from fear of strangers and is possessive of his toys and food. The only defense known to him is to bite. Was he under-socialized as a pup and/or abused by his previous owner?

Since his rescue, Oakley has bitten 4 people largely due to carelessness in their handling of this very frightened boy.

Today, Oakley is boarded and rehabilitated at Mutts & Mittens. He no longer has a problem with his hips. He enjoys his daily walks and interacts well with other dogs though at time, he gets bullied by the other dogs. However, his manners still need to be worked on as he tends to greet people by jumping on them and humping. He does not like his collar to be touched except by people whom he knows and trusts. His kennel caretaker has absolutely no problem with him.

Oakley will need time to build faith and trust in people. He is still fearful of sudden movements and loud noises. Together with Mutts & Mittens, we have decided to give this young boy a second chance at life. Hopefully with rehabilitation, Oakley will never need to meet with the fate of PTS but will instead be rehomed one day to a family who will open their heart and home to him.

For Oakley’s boarding and rehabilitation, we are appealing for kind donations of any amount. Cheque to be issued to “Mutts & Mittens Pte Ltd”.

[reunited!] SOS! AT SPCA FOR 2-3 DAYS! FOUND: golden retriever (kovan mrt, wed 10 aug 2011 9am)

This GR was found near Kovan MRT on 10 Aug 2011 around 9am. The person who found the dog called SPCA and they came and brought it back with them.

SPCA had put up some advertisements for this dog and will wait for 2-3 days for the owner to come forth. If unclaimed, they will put the dog through their usual selection process and temperament testing to determine if the dog is suitable for adoption.

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Blacki - quiet, affectionate 10yo singapore girl saved from spca

Name: Blacki
Breed: Mixed stray
Gender: Female
Weight: 17.5kg
Height from head to backside: 1.2m
Age: About 10 years old

Health status:
Healthy with a slightly enlarged heart but doctor says she is fine. Taken her injections. Teeth is not as strong. Need to soak her food to soften them first.

Character: Quiet, has not barked since. Affectionate.

Toilet Training: We bring her down twice a day.

She was roaming on the road outside a friend’s house. The guards from the condo nearby said she was seen walking around since morning. First we saw the collar so I thought she might be lost. Then we guess her age and from her grooming, her ears super dirty and clogged with black stuff, her body had a stench and so we reckoned she must be either homeless or just abandoned.

We called SPCA and they said since she has a collar she must have owner. So they placed an ad on papers for two days. But no one came for her. According to their protocol, Blacki will be handled in two weeks time - most probably put to sleep since she is an old dog and chances of adoption is not high. My friend placed her plight on facebook and we decided to adopt her to save her from being put to sleep.

However, we then found out that staying in a HDB doesn’t allow us to have a dog of her size and we have neighbours who are sensitive to dogs as well. In addition, our house is small and not enough for her to roam around.

We have saved her from being put to sleep and we hope that someone can provide her with a home.

[rehomed!] SOS! PLS FORWARD! FOSTER/ADOPT: Yumi - energetic, curious 2yo female mongrel, loves pats and walks

I have a 2 YrsOld mongrel named YUMI.
She was abandoned by her previous owner because YUMI was from his ex girlfriend and his current is not a dog-lover. I adopted her in July2010. It's been 9 months and she still couldn't get along well with my dog. They will fight and injure each other every time they get near. In the end, i had to leash them at two corners of my room.

Things were still fine when i wasn't working because then, i had time to stay at home and look after them. But after i start working with my parents, I didn't have that time to look after them. My mother-in-law ended up looking after them. Both my brother and sister-in-laws are really unhappy over this.

Since I adopted her until now, the Town Council, AVA and finally HDB has come several times to check up on my husband's place where both of my dogs are kept. His family already has 2 dogs in the first place. I've tried hiding her for awhile and bringing him back home but each time I do, my neighbours complain again and the authorities come again. The relationships between my family are deteriorating more and more as each day passes and My husband and is not staying together anymore. I just go back every Saturday to check on her. Only saturdays beacause i'm working 18hours a day and 6days a weeek. I've received several warning letters from the HDB and countless visits to my home to check on my dogs. I was also fined once for keeping 4 dogs in an HDB flat, with one not HDB-approved and without a license.

I adopted her because I could keep her for good without causing any trouble. I couldn't bear to give her up. Now I've grown attached to her and vice versa, and it breaks my heart completely that I have to give her up but at the end of the day, I simply have no choice.

Name: YUMI
Age: Turning 2 years old on 29th April
Gender: Female
Breed: Mongrel

Vaccinated: Once

Sterilized: No.

Health condition? Healthy but couldn't gain any weight due to the stress and tension going on in the house and the fact that she couldn't get along well with my the other dog.

Physical description: White with a light brown line across her back.

About her: Energetic and curious, possessive with food, loves patting and sleeping with her owner. Loves going out for walks. She's scared to be alone or closed in a room. She once barked for 2 hours non-stop because no one's at home. So she barked until i was home. Knows how to "sit" and "shake hand". She's paper trained and she's very good with children.

HDB gave me until the end of January the last time they came to check, and that's way past the due date by now. They haven't followed up yet but I think they would anytime now.

Yumi has become very special to me in the past 9 Months, and she's very attached to me. He needs a firm hand and VERY PATIENT person to care for him. I know, because I was patient with her. I would care for him for the rest of my life if the circumstances were different.

She is a special girl who's brought a lot of joy and laughter to me, and I know her personality sounds like a handful, but she really just needs a lot of understanding/care and love with all that he's been through. Please be patient with her, and I'd be eternally grateful to any kind souls out there who are willing to extend a helping hand.

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Berry - healthly, lively, obedient 8yo male golden retriever passed from owner to owner, rescued from spca

To all animal lovers:
Anyone wanna adopt a 8 years old male Golden Retriever named Berry?
He is a pedigree with both pedigree parents.

Berry was given away to an ex-friend of mine when he was 4 years old as his 1st owners were migrating and couldn't bring him along.
His 2ND owner gave him away to be a guard dog at some ulu factory after 6 months citing reasons as the expenses were too much.
His 3rd owner, some old uncle at the factory, died of cancer about 3 years ago.

Since then he has been passed on from person to person until his last owner decided to cruelly abandoned him at some ulu park or jungle in Singapore last week.
Berry was rescued by my very very kind cousin last week just right before SPCA wanted to put him to sleep..

Even though Berry is quite old, he is still very healthy and lively. He's also very obedient.
But my cousin is unable to keep him as she lives in a HDB and she already has a dog of her own.. So we need to find him a home as soon as possible.

In the meanwhile, we're hoping to raise some funds for berry, or some food as we need to bring him to the groomers, and the vet for a check-up.

Really hope that someone will give this poor boy a home as he has been abandoned all his life by those irresponsible owners, hope that someone will give him a home so that at least he can feel the warmth and love again for the last few years of his life.

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Yuki the 10yo female smooth-coat chow chow in perfect health

The companionship and devotion of a pet is something that brings joy to life. Our fondest memories and funniest stories often include that certain 4-legged member of the family. The feeling that a pet can inspire has a positive affect on the animal and it's guardian. A feeling that should be enjoyed throughout life.

Having a pet keeps a Senior company and provides a two-way care for both human and companion animal.

If you know of a senior person who could do with having a dog in their life, please let us know. For these senior citizens, Noah's Ark will provide the new furry friend with special benefits such as health care and grooming for the dog they adopt from Noah's Ark.

These are the 2 senior dogs we currently have for adoption:

Yuki - 10 yrs old, female. In perfect health.

Duanne - 9 yrs old, male. In perfect health.

Find a pet that fits you and your lifestyle. Do spread the word around!

FOUND/ADOPT: Thor - healthy, active, playful male mongrel pup, german shepherd lookalike (Anchorvale Link, Sengkang)

Hi,
Some three weeks ago, we found this dog wondering around Sengkang, Anchorvale Link near a block of flats. It followed our dog home and seems lost. It is still a puppy, very playful, still teething and it doesn't mark territory (pees like a puppy) and we have ascertained its age to be about 6months to a year. We managed to find someone living in a landed property to take him in but now she doesn't want him because she says its too dangerous for her baby because she has just given birth. Furthermore she already has two dogs on her property and one of them has gotten injured in a fight.

We have named this puppy Thor and he is very playful. Have attached a video link and you can see for yourself. He is the one that looks like a German Shepard. He is quite intelligent and understands the command sit. He likes to bite shoes and rawhide bones. He also likes to be rubbed and pampered. Usually he will stand on his hind legs and put his front paws on you to beg for food. Usually he is friendly with other dogs unless provoked. He seems to know how to defend himself. He also learns pretty quickly so he's quite smart.

He is not sterilized and we are unable to ascertain where he has been vaccinated or microchipped. But he is healthy, active and playful. He is good with children and people.

We need a home for him urgently because we can't keep him in our HDB as we already have a dog. Plus Thor would do better in a landed property. He is healthy and doesn't seem to be suffering from any problems. All the other dog welfare associations seem to have no space for Thor so the only other alternative is to bring him to SPCA where he would probably be put down.

ADOPT: Tame, friendly 3yo female community cat - residents throwing rocks at her

I hope you won't mind the mass email, but I am writing to ask if you will please help me find a home for this cat. If you can't take the cat in, please do ask if anyone is interested, and feel free to forward this email along.

This cat lives in my condo - it belonged to a family and earlier this year, that family moved away and left the cat behind, leaving half a bag of food with the condo gardener.

Since then it's been collectively taken care of by the grounds staff, guards and several residents. It is a bit wary of strangers but is very tame and friendly. It is not feral, and so not a stray cat - very much a house cat. Apparently it's been spayed/neutered but I'm not sure if it's a male or female. It seems young (at least not old) and healthy, at least from the looks of it.

Anyway, its case has now become urgent as one of the residents has voiced displeasure at seeing the cat around (and I think the cat has been sleeping on the hood of his Beng car) and there is good reason to believe this person may kick up a fuss or call the authorities soon. The guards are also afraid to feed the cat now, to avoid being complained against.

Cat is living at the condo happily and people are taking care of it.

wed 27 oct 2010
Unfortunately, after my last reply to you, it was reported that certain residents were seen trying to chase the cat away by throwing rocks at it. I believe the cat could be at risk. I am sending out another appeal to try and find it a home.

This cat is very tame and very good natured. She deserves a second chance and a new home.

I have some new important information:

Details: Female, sterilised, estimated to be approximately 3 years old (definitely under 5 - a young adult cat). Recently de-wormed, de-ticked and vaccinated. **Unfortunately she tested positive for FIV. She is healthy now and there is no reason she cannot live a full life with proper care and nutrition. Because of this however, she needs to go to a home where she will be the only cat, and she must live indoors at all times.

she's at a shelter now, but no, has not found a home.

For enquiries and adoption, please email brookvalecat@gmail.com.

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Tiger - 2+yo adorable, loving ginger male cat, a bit greedy, sleeps all day

Tiger is an adorable loving ginger Male Cat, roughly 2 + years old. He is vaccinated and sterilized.

Tiger was found as a stray kitten at the stables and we nursed him back to health. At the time he was suffering from a terrible eye infection.

He is a bit greedy so we have to separate him from our other cats food otherwise he’ll gobble two helping of food at one sitting. He sleeps all day and loves to be outside at night.

[rehomed!] SOS! ADOPT: Jack - 9mo male schnauzer-silky terrier cross - fosterer's other dog extremely territorial

Hi, im helping a friend (who is the foster owner) to put up an adoption notice of this young, now 9 month old schnauzer-terrier cross
Jack's currently at a foster home because his previous owner had some urgent matters at home and therefore needs to have Jack taken away with almost immediate effect.

The current foster owner has deep affections for Jack the first time he saw him and has decided to keep Jack and provide him a home (which was also why he declined all requests from interested adopters the first time Jack was up for adoption).

He has bought Jack to grooming and also a skin check to ascertain that Jack is not suffering from any sort of skin diseases (completely healthy!)

However within the month, it has been observed that the fosterer's other dog at home is EXTREMELY territorial and refuse to give in to Jack in any way, such that Jack will snuggle to the owner whenever possible and too afraid to roam the house by himself. The fosterer feels that this is not going well and definitely should not be the way a puppy like Jack should develop, especially when he use to be such an active dog.

It is with great regret that Jack has to be adopted and he hopes that anyone who is sincere and confident of giving Jack a good home could come forward.

Animal's name: Jack
Age: 9 months
Gender: Male
Breed: Silky Terrier-schnauzer Cross

HDB-approved? Yes

Vaccinated? Yes
Sterilised? No

Health condition? Good. have not appeared unwell so far, have not been to the vet before either except for his puppy vaccination. Feeds on dry knibbles and rice, eats v well.

Physical description? Tan/ brown with streaks of white on head and paws. small - medium sized now, will not be big because parents are both small-medium sized.

Personality/temperament? Loves attention and affection. Loves lying and being around people. Loves to play fetch. Active and playful.

Toilet trained? Fosterer has toilet trained him in the month Jack has been staying. He now pees and poops in the kitchen toilet when confine to the kitchen. However may still tend to mark a few spots in the kitchen. Jack will never ever pee/poop in his own cage and keeps his cage clean all the time.

Understands basic commands? yes. He understands if you are scolding him and he will lie low on the ground and look up at you and not move.

Good with other pets? Good but tends to be very timid in the presence of a more territorial dog.

Good with children? Good and loves being around people the most!

Why is it being put up for fostering/adoption? Explained above

Other comments:Extremely affectionate dog. would love to find him a good and loving home he deserves, and he really does deserve one.

I've got an abandoned GR and JRT up for adoption, looking for genuine dog lovers & not those who are looking for free pedigrees.

Adoption fees apply (money will go into sterilization of strays, receipts will be provided), and there will be strict screening.

Both boys, GR is estimated to be 1-2 years old. Unsure of JRT's age, should be maximum 3 years old.

LOST: 3mo male orange/white local breed cat w straight long tail (pasir st 11, blk 121/117, wed 20 jul 2011)

I have lost my 3 months old male cat since last Wednesday 20/7/2011 morning. It was last seen by my neighbour at 6.15am. I am staying at Blk 121 Pasir Ris Street 11.

I have printed posters of my lost cat and pasted them at my neighbourhood lift landings. I only got response yesterday from one woman staying at my block saying that she saw my cat at Blk 117 two days ago which was 25/7/2011 at 6 pm.

My cat is a local breed and its color is orange mixed with white. It has a straight long tail. Till today I'm yet searching for him but couldn't find. I've called the ava and told them about this. I called spca too but couldn't reach them. Please help me. Thank you.
