[rehomed!] FOUND: 1-2yo beagle x jrt (jalan bahagia, sun 22 aug)
A Beagle-Jack Russel Terrier crossbreed was found wandering around Jalan Bahagia on Sunday (22 August 2010) around 9am. It appears to be around one-two years old.
Imagine beagle ears and tail on a white and tan JRT...

No one claimed the dog but we have found him a new home and he is doing very well with his new family who adore him. :)
[rehomed!] ADOPT: Rusty the handsome 4.5yo male golden retriever
I have a male Golden Retriever (4.5 years old) for adoption.
I hate to part with him too but I am shifting to an apartment from my landed property now and cannot accomodate him. His name is Rusty and there is no fee involved but you have to love dogs and take good care of him.
I would like him to have a good home.

[rehomed!] FOUND: May the female dog - shih tzu? (Bukit Panjang, Thu 20 May)

On the night of Thu 20th May 2010. My wife saw a dog wandering aimlessly in our neighbourhood park (Bukit Panjang - Senja Grand). Curious, she observed the dog for a long while and noticed that the dog does not have a collar id nor any owners around her.
Subsequently my wife decided to bring the dog home to provide it with shelter, food and water. We have tentatively named the dog 'May' as she is found in the month of May and seemingly she responds to the name. We are seeking out the original owner/s.
Photos of 'May' can be found here:
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=178773&id=575575815&l=e110e45209
May is a very adorable dog and both my wife & I are very keen to adopt her for good if the owner/s is/ are not to be found! Thanks.
[Mon 24 May. Source: e-mail, Mon 24 May.]
Update Thu 27 May
My wife & I brought May to the vet today, where a microchip scan was done and a microchip data was found.
Immediately we filed an updated dog found report of May with the microchip number to the SPCA. Concurrently we also made a dog found report (with the microchip number) with the AVA.
However AVA called back to feedback that the original owner did not file an official registration of May, hence there is no way to trace the original owner/s of May.
Guess this means May will stay with the Yaw family for the time being, until its original owner/s file a missing dog report with the SPCA or AVA.
Thank you all for your comments & suggestions. Meanwhile we will upload photos of May occasionally for our viewing pleasure :)
* May is estimated to be approximately 2 years old with healthy gums & body :)

[rehomed!] SOS! FOSTER/FOUND: 2-3yo male terrier cross (kallang bahru) - fosterer can't keep him any more
I found a terrier cross at the street and now he is caged up at my place for a week time. I can't keep the dog due to personal reason.
He us about 2-3 yrs, male. Around Maltese size. I can't find new home for him. He is not paper/toilet trained.
Found him at Kallang Bahru area around few weeks back.
Contacted SPCA n Ava but no response. SPCA did ask me not to bring him down of fearing to put to sleep, but I no longer can foster him now.
I am deciding to bring him to SPCA in these few days if I still can't find new home for him. Are you able to help?

[rehomed!] ADOPT: Rotty the sweet, intelligent 1yo female rottweiler abandoned by owner
We met up with Uncle WeiXiang on Sunday to meet up with a Rotti he found wandering at Great World. She was microchipped and he actually managed to find her owner... unfortunately it was a case of abandonment.
Rotty was basically thrown to him to take care of and she had a chronic tick infestation. Luckily her tests all came back great and so far Uncle WeiXiang has paid almost $1000 in both medical and board for her.
She is a very sweet and intelligent girl, and Uncle WeiXiang is really upset he himself couldn't adopt her. He approached Pa about what to do, and Pa suggested that to reduce Boarding costs, Rotty should be moved to Mutts and Mittens. As a stray looking for a great home... that is a good place to go to.
Uncle WeiXiang only knows Pa by reputation, so we went down to the pet shop Rotty was boarded at Clementi Road, to help transport her to her new temp home.

[rehomed!] FOUND/ADOPT: white Persian cat in car park
.... after 4 days in the car park. Black oil stains all over his back.
It's an unsterilized male. His teeth look good so I think he should be quite young.
He is a big cat, look at those big paws... but not much flesh under all that fur.... he felt very light when I picked him up.
He will be sent to Pet Clinic on 04-05-2010 for sterilisation and vaccination.
He will also be sent for grooming.
Then he will be ready for adoption.
Potential adopters, please read this....
and send the answers to these questions to
a. Are there any cats/other pets at home and what are they?
b. Are they sterilised?
c. Do you let your cats roam out of your home?
d. Are there any kids at home? If yes, are the kids allergic to furs/cats/etc?
e. Which floor are you living at?
f. Are your windows grilled with small grilles (2inch) that the cats won't be able to get out?
g. If not, are you willing to mesh out ALL your windows for the cats' safety?
h. Are you above 21 years of age? If you are younger, you will need the consent of your parents for adoption to be approved.
i. Are the other people living under the same roof, agreeable to living with a cat?

[rip] SPONSOR MEDICAL BILLS: Gentle Paws' Bobby with heartworm and kidney problems
This is an appeal for contributions to help to pay for Bobby's medical bill of $2948 incurred so far. He is scheduled to go back for more injections and follow-ups at the vet.
Bobby was diagnosed with heartworm, hospitalised and was scheduled to go for an operation.
However the op was aborted shortly after it started. It was found that Bobby's valves were blocked to the extent that the vet's forceps could not be inserted to remove the heart worms as planned.
Instead, the vet tapped Bobby's abdomen and drained over 10 litres of fluid from him. Bobby has to be on heart worm medicine for the rest of his life. He also has to undergo the draining process twice a week. His kidney was found to be weak and he will require kidney supplements
Bobby's story can be found here

and
http://gentlepaws2010.blogspot.com/2010/08/on-bobby.html
We sincerely hope you can help with Bobby's medical bill as the dogs at the shelter depends solely on volunteers and contributions to fund the shelter.
Please transfer to POSB savings 126-840390 if you can and drop us an email thereafter with the details of your transfer so that we can validate and take note. Any amount is greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small for us. Please let us know if you wish to have a look at the bill for any clarification as well.
Bobby is 1 of the oldest boy who stayed at a shelter ever since he was a young dog for about coming to 10years. During the first 8-9 years of his life as a shelter dog, he never got the chance to step out of shelter, never got to smell the earth & grass. Because little was known about him. He got very uptight when there were visits from unfamiliar faces especially those who wear spectacles. It was suspected that he could have been abused by his ex-owner who was bespectacled.
However, as times went by, Bobby learnt to trust human again and even got the chance to step on the moist soil that he was so deprived of.
I got the chance to bring him for his first walk ever out of shelter last year and it is very difficult till today to forget how he was so happy with simple and probably insignificant things to you & me like little wild flowers and the different types of grass by the roadside. His tail wagged so excitedly when he tried to play with the flowers, smelling and touching them with his paws.
From then on, Bobby looks forward to walks whenever there are volunteers around. Sometimes he would quietly come up to volunteers and rub them with his head to ask for a pat.
In the file bobby2009 you see, that was Bobby last year.
bobby2010 was during a walk this year, & he had this wrap around his belly because his abdomen swell so badly that it was causing him difficulties to walk but the good old boy insisted on walking...
Thanks once again for reading and please help us with this appeal.
Sincerely
Zan

SPONSOR MEDICAL BILLS! Pavarotti the cat with feline urinary syndrome
On August 26, we received a report from Marcella Do, a caregiver from CMN, as follows:
Pavarotti needs treatment urgently for Feline Urinary Syndrome. Pavarotti has been on antibiotics and cranberry capsules since he was diagnosed with a bladder/urinary tract/ kidney infection. He seemed to be improving but this morning he refused food (not at all like him) and he started passing drops of blood and a milky thick liquid so I took him to the vet. He is now hospitalised and will need treatment for a couple of days. He has Feline Urinary Syndrome which is generally associated with overweight male cats according to the vet.
The treatment requires drainage of the bladder with a catheter every so often so he will have to stay at the clinic for at least a couple of days. Once the bladder is clear he may be able to pee without help but the problem may come back a few days later and he will need further treatment. The alternative is to have surgery and a tube inserted for the urine to pass through.
Marcella just gave us an emergency shout yesterday that Pavarotti has to go through the surgery by today. However, just the surgery alone will amount to close to S$2,000 and given the financial resource we have, we simply do not have the ability to fork out this amount.
Despite the inadequate resource we possess, we did not give up on him and decided that even if this costs us ALL our money in the account, we will have to give it a go. Of course, this does not only mean that Pavarotti could get a new lease of life, this would also mean that we must raise close to $2.5K by the next few weeks. If not, the rest of the cats on campus would have to go hungry.
Please, we need your support. Every single donation reinforces the fact that we have made the right decision and for every single one who passes this message on, we have a higher chance that the rest of the cats on campus will not go hungry in the near future.
If you wish to donate, please contact us at NTU_cats@lycos.com or Marcella at marcella_do@hotmail.com to see how you may contribute.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Regards,
Cat Management Network

Thank you.

[rip] ADOPT: Dot Dot the male mongrel left in shelter
Gender: Male
Sterilised: Yes
Temperament: Good with dogs and humans.
Details:
Dot Dot was loved by his owner but we are not certain why she stopped visiting him and had since went missing for a long time.
In the meantime, until his owner has the ability to claim him back, we are sad to say that this poor chap will join the remaining dogs at the shelter to be put up for adoption.
An appeal to his owner who might be reading this advertisement. Can you PLEASE respond or kindly update us on your whereabouts? Dot Dot misses you a lot! If only you can see his sad looks on his face. We are certain he still longs for your touch and hugs.
Please get in touch with us ASAP. We hope that Dot Dot would be able to reunite with you one day. Abandonment is NOT the right solution to resolving problems.
Don't let him wait for too long...

[rip] ADOPT: Jerry the strong, handsome singapore boy
Gender: Male
Sterilised: Yes
Temperament: Good with dogs and humans.
Details:
Jerry's brother (Tom) died a couple of years ago due to sickness which affected all the dogs in shelter.
Handsome Jerry loves to escape from shelter especially when someone opens the gate. When he was young, the workers used to draw circles on Tom and his face which was quite hilarious but we guessed it was meant for fun only.
Do call us for viewing of handsome Jerry. We bet you will not be disappointed!
He makes a wonderful companion. A nice lovely pet.
Update as at 22 Nov 09:
Jerry began losing weight lately and was brought to the vet. A light 15.5kg which is uncommon for a dog his size.
He will undergo blood transfusion this morning and we need to monitor his condition for fear of "rejection" of blood by his body. He was also tested positive for tick fever (known as erhlichiosis) and possible heartworm. The same history as Smarty (who unfortunately, passed away 3 days ago).
Let's pray for the best...
Update as at 6 Dec 09:
Jerry is now recovering and under foster care. He puts on much weight as compared and is eating well.
He requires a foster home to care for him whilst he is still recuperating. The foster family has currently a handful of dogs to take care and might not have the ability to care for him in long term.
Please drop us an email if you can help to foster Jerry.
Jerry's next review with the vet will be in two wks' time.
Thank you!

[rehomed!] SOS! FOSTER/ADOPT: Kiki the 2-3yo female silk terrier - owner died in accident with no next-of-kin, kiki now w landlord
I have an urgent case here. A female silky terrier (named Kiki) whose owner has just passed away in an accident is needed a home. The owner has neither family member nor relative. Kiki is currently in the landlord's place which the owner had rented a room.
We are seeking kind hearted people who can either adopt or foster Kiki.
She is a very friendly dog who is at least 2-3 years old.
Kiki is not aware that her owner is not able to come back caring for her anymore. She is still waiting at her cage which her owner used to placed her while out at work. Sending her to SPCA is the least thing the landlord is willing to do.
Unfortunately, should on one is able to take Kiki, sending her to SPCA will be the last thing he can do.
Please help to spread this message around to help Kiki who desperately needs love and a new home. Please give her a second chance to live. I believe her owner will be grateful to whoever is able to step forward.

Max, a Bull Mastiff, passed away peacefully this morning at 9am, in the comfort of his home and in the loving arms of his owner, Ms CL. She had adopted him some years back and had given him the best of everything - from numerous car rides, to swims on the beach, to his very own swimming pool.
Max had tick fever slightly more than a month ago and despite two blood transfusions over the past week, he got weaker by the day and finally passed on this morning.
To all who knew Max, he was a gentle giant - he lived to play! Ball games, swimming - those were his greatest pleasures. And when Max came near you - be sure to scram because his saliva would definitely give you a refreshing foam bath.

APPEAL FOR WITNESSES/SIGN PETITION: Dog believed to have been bashed to death in Compassvale
On 18 August 2010, a dog was found dead at the void deck of Blk 267B Compassvale Link. The dog was believed to have been bashed to death against the wall by an unknown male subject. The AVA is investigating the case.
The SPCA is appealing for information which could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for this violent act.
* If you can help, please call the SPCA at 62875355 ext 9.
http://www.spca.org.sg/documents/reward%20poster-cats-compassvale-pomeranian-200810.pdf
* If you didn't witness the act, you can still help by signing this petition to appeal to the courts to impose the maximum punishment on the offender:
To: The Subordinate Courts of Singapore, AVA, SPCA
cc the AVA, SPCA
20 August 2010
Dear Sirs
On 18 August 2010, Wednesday, at about 7.40pm, an unnamed Pomeranian dog was killed brutally by an unknown man at the void deck of Block 267B Compassvale Link. A witness said that the man was picking up the dog and throwing it onto the floor over and over again - for at least 10 times. This lasted for more than 10 minutes. The dog cried out in pain at first, after awhile, there was silence.
The dog's face was soaked in blood and the concrete slabs and floor of the void deck bore blood stains. This is evidence of the cruelty the animal suffered.
In Singapore, cruelty to animals is a crime. Under the Animals and Birds Act, anyone who is found guilty of such an offence including abandonment of any animal, can be imprisoned for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000, or both.
However, in this particular case, it is more than just cruelty. The man has showed a blatant disregard of the law and displayed his aggression to a poor, defenseless animal openly in the public, whilst under the watchful eyes of witnesses around. Nobody went forward to stop his act of aggression as they feared being attacked by him. This man must be punished by the law for his aggression may go out of control and his next victim may be a young and defenseless child.
Even if the maximum punishment of one year imprisonment and a $10,000 fine is imposed, it is too light a sentence for a man who has a lack of respect for life itself. If such an act of aggression is let off lightly, what kind of message are we sending to the public and what kind of society would we be seen as by other countries?
We, the undersigned, appeal to the Court to impose a harsh punishment on the offender, so as to deter others and help prevent further animal cruelty incidents from happening. Animals are unable to defend themselves so we must all do our part to save them from acts of cruelty.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
